The Zuni create many different animals and birds these days. Creatures that they see during their daily lives that may not provide benefit or blessing. In creating some of these creatures they attempt to get the figure as life like as possible thus featuring some of the finest carvings available. Many birds are believed to carry prayers to the heavens asking for rain.
This Humming bird stands approximately 1 1/2 inch tall and is exquisitely carved with every detail. He has raised Jet inlayed eyes and a Mother of Pearl beak. Hand carved by Zuni Artist Justin Red Elk this is a true asset to any collection.
