Fred was raised in a small town called Manuelito. Although he began creating jewelry when he was in his teens, he didn’t begin inlaying pieces until after high school. He is self-taught in his craft, and is a true pioneer in the world of intricate inlay. Known for his “ Pueblo  “ jewelry Fred recently was awarded a 1st place in Gallup Ceremonials. ( the Navajo nations largest showing of jewelry & arts and crafts)

Adobe Pueblo pendant by Fred Begay

Inlay art this “Night Sky over Adobe Village” Sun Pendant. Hand inlay ed in solid Sterling Silver then signed by Navajo artist Fred Begay the Sun Pendant features an inlay bail that will accommodate most chains and Navajo Pearls. Pendant and bail are approximately 2″ 5/8 by 1″ 1/4” wide. The Adobe Villages and mountains are inlay ed with jasper , tiger eye and black jet. The Night sky is Black Jet with silver stars. The Moon, Comets and Stars are done in cultured opal. Planets are inlay ed with Coral. Notice the shading of the foreground going to the mountains and the detail in the tail of the comet. The windows,doors, and Vegas in the Adobe are inlay ed with Black Jet. A true work of art that you will be proud to wear. The position of moon, comet, stars , mountains etc will vary as each piece is inlay ed by hand
